The Practical Test of Driving Ability

The Eyesight Test

You must be able to read a motor car number plate at a distance of 26.5 m where the letters and numbers are 79 mm tall in good daylight, with the help of glasses or contact lenses if worn.

Show Me / Tell Me Questions

All candidates are required to answer 5 questions
3 Show Me (demonstrative)
2 Tell Me (explanatory)

All questions apply to the operation and maintenance of the test vehicle.
I.e. Open the bonnet, identify where the windscreen washer reservoir is and tell me how you would check the windscreen washer level.

The Driving Test

This advanced test requires the candidate to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the principles of road safety and a competent driving ability.
The test lasts for about one hour.
You are required to pass all three tests to achieve an overall pass.

Training with Countywide

As part of the course you will be given full access to this training site that is restricted to general users. This enables you to use all associated material relevant to your driving instructor training requirements.

Your training will be carried out in a Countywide vehicle and on a one to one basis.

More than one candidate in the car causes distraction and on occasions some discomfort. This is the time when you need to be in a comfortable learning environment to help you concentrate.

The trainer will give you quality driving demonstrations and thorough explanations on all aspects of your driving requirements to help you achieve your full potential throughout the lessons.

Supporting written material will also be available including the show me tell questions.

These driving lessons are designed to further enhance the skills you currently possess.

Working with you on an individually designed training plan will perfect your appropriate skills and introduce you to new techniques associated with the principles of ‘eco-safe driving’.

I.e. Block changing your gears

You will be given mock tests building up to your driving test, as this helps to ease any concerns regarding your ability to achieve a pass.

We will accompany you to examination where you will have the use of the car in which you trained in.
